Hernán Calderón Carvallo

(Quito, 1961).

Visual artist and professor in the Visual Arts program at the University of San Francisco in Quito. Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Central University of Ecuador, specializing in Painting and Engraving (1992).Advanced Certificate, Advanced Specialization, and Master's Degree in Art Studies from Central University of Ecuador (2005-2012). Laureate International Universities Diploma. “Laureate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education” Miami, U.S.A. (2015). Art Curator Course, Mombó Art Gallery, Seville, Spain (2023). Solo exhibitions: Club Jacarandá, Quito (1986 and 1996). Swing Mesón Cultural, Quito (1999). Gruen Galleries, Chicago, IL., U.S.A., (2000). Several participations in group and solo exhibitions, biennials, and visual arts competitions in Ecuador, the United States, Poland, Ukraine, and Italy. Various artistic and academic awards, such as: Gold Medal, Painting Competition, Quito (1969). Third Prize in the BEV Painting Competition, Quito (1991). Third Prize in the Quito Municipality Caricature Competition (1991). Third Mention in the Quito Municipality Engraving Competition (1991). Gold Medal for “Best Graduate Student” from the Faculty of Arts, Central University of Ecuador (1992). Honorable Mention for Academic Excellence from the University of the Americas Quito (2014). Audience Award at the Watercolor Painting Biennial “Our Wonderful World International Watercolor Exhibition” Poland and Ukraine (2020). Finalist in the IWS California-USA watercolor competition, “International Watercolor Competition and Exhibition First International Online Juried Exhibition-Brushstrokes of Harmony,” California-USA (2021). Letters of Recognition for best teachers evaluated by the University of San Francisco in Quito (2018-2024).
